Higher Apprentice Network Engineer (level 4)

We are looking for an aspiring engineer with a hunger to learn and explore all aspects of network engineering. You will have an all-access pass to every inch of our business, including but not limited to, designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting our world-class, high-performance network.

During and on completion of your apprenticeship, you’ll be…

• Installing, configuring, and testing appropriate network components or devices securely to well-defined specifications physically and virtually
• Optimising and maintaining the performance of network systems or services in line with well-defined specifications
• Investigating and problem solve to address technical performance issues in networks to return the network to successful operation and escalate as necessary
• Interpreting written requirements and technical specifications in relation to delivery of network systems and services
• Use operational data to manage weekly work schedule in an efficient and cost-effective way
• Communicating technical network requirements effectively and professionally with a range of stakeholders ensuring stakeholder relationships are maintained
• Practice continuous self-learning to keep up to date with technological developments to enhance relevant skills and take responsibility for own professional development
• Incorporating considerations of the requirements of the wider digital context in which they operate to ensure that network engineering activities are carried out effectively
• Ensure all network engineering activity complies with organisational policies, technical standards, health and safety legislation, data security requirements, professional ethics, privacy, and confidentiality
• Deliver services under pressures such as timescale, SLAs or budget

We are looking for someone with…

• Must have 5 GCSE passes at grades 4 and above including English and Math
• Must have IT specific qualification at either A-level or Level 3 Apprenticeship, or other relevant qualifications (BTEC). STEM Subjects will be of benefit
• Good communication skills
• A demonstrable passion for technology
• Familiar knowledge of:
   1. WAN and LAN networking technologies
   2. Fault finding and technical troubleshooting
   3. Networking infrastructure- switching, routing and firewall
   4. Agile methodologies

• CompTIA Server+
• CompTIA Network+
• CompTIA Security+

Learning Progression…

Apprenticeship progression routes are also available to Learners with options like the Level 6 Cyber security technical professional (integrated degree) or Level 7 Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Integrated Degree)
